April is National Autism Awareness Month

According to a 2016 report from The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, 1 out of every 68 children born in the United States has been diagnosed with varying degrees of Autism. The Autism Society works diligently to offer support, early intervention, education, newsletters, community events, national conferences, etc to help families all across America understand how to help your loved one.

On a personal note, I actually have a sweet 8 year old nephew, Donny who was diagnosed with Autism at a very early age. With the help of doctors, the local community networks and his family's support, he was able to be placed in a special school program to help him learn, grow and experience life in a different way.  I am so proud of how much progress he has made in the last couple of years and I love the feeling when I go visit him that he can come up to me and say "Hi Aunt Denise" and give me a kiss and a hug. It just melts my heart.
