Now there is a tool you can use to find out on the IRS’ website to determine the status. The site will ask for your social security number, filing status and the exact amount of your expected refund. According to the IRS you should check your status within 24 hours after they have received your e-filed tax return, or 4 weeks after mailing your paper return. When the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund, you can see your actual personalized refund date. Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days after they receive your tax return, it’s possible your return may require additional review and take longer.
